Where it usually is in a valley home
Most Las Vegas homes have the main shut-off in one of two places: in a box near the street next to the water meter, or on the front wall of the house close to the hose bib. Slab-on-grade construction means there is rarely a basement to check.
Test that it turns
A valve that has not moved in fifteen years is the one that seizes during the emergency. Turn it off and on once so you know it works, and if it is stiff or weeps, have it replaced before you need it.
