Why does my toilet keep running?
Usually a worn flapper or fill valve, and it is a quick repair. It is also the most expensive small fault in a Las Vegas house, because the water is metered and a silent leak past the flapper runs continuously without anybody noticing until the bill arrives. If the tank refills on its own without anyone flushing, that is the one to fix first.
My toilet rocks slightly, does that matter?
Yes, more than a running toilet does. A toilet that rocks or weeps at the base has a failed wax seal or a damaged closet flange, and water is reaching the subfloor every time it is used. That moves up the priority list because the damage is structural and hidden rather than metered and visible.
Is there a rebate for a water-efficient toilet in Las Vegas?
The Southern Nevada Water Authority runs a rebate on qualifying WaterSense high-efficiency toilets. Program terms change, so the current rules are worth checking before buying, and we can fit a qualifying unit and point you at the program that applies when the work is done.
Can a toilet be reset, or does it need replacing?
Resetting is usually enough. Pulling the toilet, fitting a new wax ring and repairing the flange where it has failed puts a sound toilet back into service. Replacement is the answer when the porcelain itself is cracked, or when the household wants the water saving of a newer high-efficiency unit.
